Ever been to a national park or roadside turnout and read one of those large signs telling you about some geo and/or biologic feature of that locale? What you were looking at was an interpretive sign. They are called interpretive signs because, as in the interpretation of a language, Environmental Interpretation translates the technical language of a natural science or field into terms and ideas the everyday person can understand and appreciate. And does so in an interesting and entertaining manner through words and illustrations.

Signs designed and illustrated for Island County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) to be installed at various locations on Whidbey and Camano Islands.
